Resplendent performance systems for Regency Hall

Vaughan Sound has completed an impressive Performance Lighting, Sound and Audio-Visual scheme for the newly built Regency Hall in Saundersfoot.

The £1.2m project – funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Welsh Government, Pembrokeshire County Council, The Sustainable Development Fund and PLANED (Pembrokeshire Local Action Network for Enterprise and Development) – has created one of the most distinctive and impressive community venues in South West Wales.

Vaughan Sound was appointed by Jehu of Bridgend, working alongside Neville and Susan Boughton-Thomas – the client agent for the project.

Firstly, a selection of legacy equipment was collected and returned to our Workshop, before being serviced, PAT tested and included within the project scheme. Vaughan Sound then specified and installed three 10m internally wired bars, which were suspended from the ceiling of the Main Hall. LEDJ, Stage Par 64 and Selecon Hui fittings plus Zero 88 controls were amongst the specialist products chosen to provide the impressive new performance and task lighting.

For the performance sound, two RCF 705AS active sub bass loudspeakers were positioned alongside existing units at high level in front of the stage, to significantly enhance the system. Stage facility panels were included along with a rack mounted control room facility panel and further panels in the Crèche and Meeting Room, with Vaughan Sound also providing specialist cabling infrastructure and termination.

New 10m T60 overlap track, manually operated stage curtains were installed within the Main Hall. Meanwhile a multimedia presentation system, including a Mitsubishi 3000 lumen projector, 2.4m retractable electric screen and Yamaha Blu-ray 7:1 surround sound, was provided in the Meeting Room.

The new public address and show relay system consists of a range of ceiling and wall mounted loudspeakers, along with a Cloud matrix, eight-channel amplifier and microphone console for the front end. A ring intercom was also installed, with Techpro belt packs and headset communications provided.

To complete the technical solutions, Vaughan Sound specified and installed induction loop systems in the Main Hall, main Meeting Room and Reception. Current Thinking ET300 loop amplifiers were linked to the performance sound and surround sound systems in the Main Hall and Meeting Room respectively. An ET30C counter loop system complete with gooseneck microphone was provided in Reception.

The Main Hall is able to seat up to 250 people and will have a variety of uses including; concerts, conferences, dance classes, parties, performances and wedding receptions. The large Meeting Room can seat 80 and is available to hire. Saundersfoot Library is also located within Regency Hall. Together, these modern, eco-friendly spaces will benefit thousands of residents and visitors in the community of Saundersfoot and the surrounding area.
