Parc y Scarlets - Public Address & Voice Evacuation Systems - Vaughan Sound

Client Overview

Home to regional side the Scarlets, the aptly-titled Parc y Scarlets is Llanelli’s £23 million, 15,000-capacity state-of-the-art stadium.

Built by Andrew Scott Limited, in partnership with the Scarlets and Carmarthenshire County Council, the multi-purpose sports venue regularly hosts rugby and football matches, occasional pop concerts and also features an indoor training barn and conference centre with function suites.

Project Brief

Having supplied audio equipment to its predecessor Stradey Park, Vaughan Sound was invited by Whitehead Building Services to design and install a full public address and voice evacuation system within the brand new multi-use building to meet the needs of a wide range of events.

Technical Solutions

With the stadium hosting an array of activities, it was imperative that the devised technical scheme met the venue’s safety needs and was both multi-functional and easily adaptable for various scenarios and setups.

Accordingly, to provide the venue with the flexibility and dependability it required, a TOA VX-2000 voice evacuation system was specified and installed by Vaughan Sound.

Designed to meet British Standards (BS 5839 7827), the product is highly efficient, constantly monitoring for abnormalities and alerting staff if faults are found.

In addition to meeting the emergency broadcast requirements, the fully modular configuration system is also suitable for general purposes, enabling employees to utilise the equipment for general day-to-day announcements.

To offer impressive clarity for the proposed speech and sound broadcasts, Community R.5 stadium loudspeakers were selected to accompany the voice evacuation system.

Installed in the main spectator area, the durable full range speakers provide powerful audio quality, intelligibility and overall coverage.

As well as improving the matchday and live events experience within the main arena, Vaughan Spund also provided equipment to a selection of the stadium’s suites.

The exclusive Quinnell Lounge, and Carwyn James and Phil Bennett suites benefitted from Current Thinking low-spill induction loop systems for the hearing impaired, together with audio-visual presentation packages.

Through the multimedia installation, the areas can capably accommodate a range of corporate and special occasions.

Outcome

Vaughan Sound – whose stadia clients include the Principality Stadium, SSE SWALEC Stadium and Bath Rugby – has successfully designed and installed an integrated sound system, suitable for transmitting speech and music broadcasts.

As a result of the installation, Parc y Scarlets now benefits from cost-effective and adaptable equipment that can be utilised for a variety of events.
