Vaughan Sound has completed the installation of audio, induction loop and display systems at Cardiff International White Water (CIWW).
CIWW is located at the International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay and offers a diverse range of exhilarating water sports, with a unique environment of on-demand white water plus access to a diverse river system catering for all types of adrenaline enthusiasts.
The venue required a suitable sound system, which could stand up to the conditions inherent in such an environment. Following a site meeting and an agreed proposal, Vaughan Sound specified, supplied and installed a robust set of equipment capable of withstanding the close proximity of the water, moisture in the air, as well as varying temperatures.
Including two Community R.25-94TZ two-way, full-range weather resistant loudspeakers mounted on the bulkhead, with a further three DNH BMD 60T full-range ceiling loudspeakers mounted under the balcony, the new system provides high quality sound levels throughout the viewing areas for CIWW’s Surf Rider.
A Crown XTi 2002 power amplifier with DSP processor, MT200 transformer, seven TOA CS 64 projection loudspeakers, five PL-60 ceiling loudspeakers and two IP55 rated weather-proof DNH VEP-15(T) horn loudspeakers completed the sound system.
Trantec products such as a S5-3 hand held radio microphone and SCC-S53RX-MB3 aerial mount were also supplied, along with a Yamaha MG102C mixer complete with rack mount and portable flightcase.
As the only ISCE registered audio frequency induction loop system (AFILS) assessor in Wales, Vaughan Sound was also appointed by CMB Electrical of Cardiff to fit an induction loop system in the Briefing Area. A Current Thinking ET120 amplifier was specified, designed in accordance with BS EN 60118-4.
Vaughan Sound’s involvement at the £13.3m Olympic standard centre concluded with the supply, installation and commissioning of an Aqualite AQLS-42 42” Weather-Proof LCD IP66 rated black screen, complete with Brightsign compact media player and SD card. The screen was chosen for its toughened safety glass front with tempered anti-reflective surface and full HD 1080p resolution.
