Vaughan Sound provided AV, background music, induction loop and public address systems to the new Sobell Leisure Centre in Aberdare.
Forming part of a £50m regeneration scheme, involving a brand new secondary school amongst other mixed used education and leisure development, the venue will offer exceptional facilities to students and the local community.
It includes a 75-station gymnasium, dance studio, dojo, spin studio, two squash courts, viewing area, and a meeting room.
Meanwhile, the 33m Aberdare Swimming Pool has also been redeveloped to provide new training facilities at the complex for the National Diving Development Centre for Wales.
A four-zone Cloud mixer/amplifier was paired with a paging microphone and RCF recessed ceiling speakers. Due to the inherent environmental conditions, IP rated Community R.5 loudspeakers were used around the pools.
In the Spin Studio, a three metre retractable electric screen and 5000 lumen XGA projector with AMX control have been fitted alongside a Yamaha sound system with Shure audio mixer.
A Current Thinking induction loop amplifier has been linked to the sound system, with a counter loop amplifier and gooseneck microphone at the gym’s host desk. The project was completed with the inclusion of wall mounted LG 42” commercial LCD TVs in the gym.
Separate work across the entire school, Vaughan Sound’s largest education scheme to date, is set for completion in Spring 2015. It is our first BIM (Building Information Modelling) project, with our design team utilising Autodesk Revit software to enable integrated project delivery.
The new establishment will bring together the former Aberdare Girls’, Aberdare High and Blaengwarw schools. More news and images of this phase will follow in due course.
