Blackbrook Pavilion Pool & Spa, Taunton - Vaughan Sound

Vaughan Sound has provided public address, digital signage and induction loop systems at Blackbrook Pavilion Pool and Spa in Taunton.

The £5.7 million development is situated just off J25 of the M5, to the east of the county town of Somerset.

The facility is adjacent to Blackbrook Pavilion sports centre and has replaced the pool in St James Street, which was closed due to its age and associated maintenance costs.

Boasting a 25-metre main swimming pool and 13-metre learner pool, the new build also incorporates a thermal spa including: hydro pool, sauna and steam room, four treatment rooms, a nail bar, relaxation room and members only juice bar.

Appointed by BAM Construction’s Bristol office following the firm’s tender success via the Construction Framework South West scheme, Vaughan Sound was tasked with delivering AV and sound equipment to the new build as well as upgrades to the refurbished sports centre.

Blackbrook Pavilion Pool and Spa benefits from an eight zone public address and background music system, covering the main pool, learner pool, changing village, café, juice and nail bars, treatment rooms, wet spa and circulation.

Each zone has a remote volume control, direct music source input (CD/MP3/USB player) and channel selector.

A paging microphone has also been provided, enabling public address announcements to be delivered to any individual zone or combination of zones as required.

Induction loop systems for the hard of hearing have been fitted within the treatment reception and servery.

Elsewhere, a poolside aerobics sound system was supplied complete with CD/MP3/USB pitch controlled remote operated player, headset radio microphone and 8U flightcase.

42” commercial LED TVs, with SEDAO networked media players mounted locally to each, deliver digital signage and Tone Leisure branded content within the new build.

Vaughan Sound provided comprehensive client training as part of the handover process.

Refurbishment works within the existing sports centre included a complete replacement of the public address amplifiers, control equipment and over 60 recessed ceiling and column cluster loudspeakers throughout the venue.

Blackbrook Pavilion Pool and Spa is now open to the public.
